Explorative Poetry
Explorative Poetry: what exactly is it?
Explorative Poetry is poetry used as a way to get inside our thoughts and our emotions through our reaction to reading poetry of many kinds. It is also a way to explore images and feelings that arise when we write our own poetry, encouraging us to unleash our creativity.
What Explorative Poetry is not — it is not a workshop in the craft of poetry. We do not discuss formal rules or craft issues, and we do not work on poetry with publication as an end in mind. Participants may find that later they wish to polish their work and move into that area themselves, but our workshops do not have that focus.
Explorative Poetry is poetry as a tool for personal development. It gives us a way to explore our emotional truth through language, both as a reader and as a creator in our own right.
