Heart
In the area of the heart, relationships are key. This includes relationships with those around us, family, friends, coworkers, pets… but it also includes the relationship we have with ourself. Knowing our emotional states and our instinctive reactions will allow us to be in control of how we are perceived, and help us relate to those around us in the most postive manner possible.
Stress and interpersonal struggle can lead to physical illness, depression, or a loss of joy in the small things of life. To sustain ourselves emotionally and to keep our relationships satisfying and fulfilling, we must practice radical self-care. Too many times we put our own emotional needs on hold while ensuring that the desires of others are met. But the best way to assist others is to keep your emotional ‘gas tank’ full.
Supporting your own heart health is not a selfish act; rather it enables you to fill your own heart with love and gratitude that will overflow and allow you to care for yourself and all those you are in relationship with.
